Christmas Yarn Wreath

I decided to jump on the bandwagon and make a Yarn Wreath for our front door this year. And I'm so happy I did. Ours will be the cutest door on the whole street!

I started with a green foam wreath and a skein of green yarn. I used a slightly thicker yarn and one with a little texture to it, but you could use any kind of yarn you'd like. I tied a knot in the end of my yarn, pinned it in place on the wreath and started wrapping.

Wrap the yarn tightly and make sure it's snug up against itself. (It really helped to have the foam and yarn be almost the same color because I could get away with tiny gaps and it's not noticeable.)

I sat and did this in front to the TV and it really didn't take me that long to do. And it didn't even use up half of a skein, so it was a very economical project. You might even have enough yarn laying around your house that you could use.

Next I gathered up some scraps of Christmas fabric and felt that I had on hand and cut up a bunch of triangles. Then I pinned them to 3/8" ribbon and sewed them together.

I simply pinned the ribbons to the back of the wreath.

And voila! I LOVE how it turned out. This wreath was so easy and it'd really be fun to customize it for every season/holiday/occasion.

And as a bonus, since the ribbons are just pinned in to the wreath, they're totally removable. As I was trying to figure out how to embellish my wreath, I first came up with this idea.

I walked around my yard (and my neighbor's yard...shhhh!...) and collected some pretty leaves. Then I just straight-pinned them in the wreath where I wanted them, making sure to hide the pins with the leaves as I layered them.

But then I decided it was too much Fall and not enough Christmas, so I abandoned the leaves. But since everything is simply pinned in place, it's all changeable! So you could have one wreath and just change out the embellishments throughout the year!

The possibilities are really endless with these wreaths because there are so many cute ways to embellish them. Let me know if you make your own!
