Light Box Love

When it comes to photography, I am really not very skilled. I have a simple point and shoot and I don't even know how to use all of its features. Then I was introduced to the magic of the Light Box (I never knew how all those clever people on Etsy took such amazing photo-studio-quality pictures...now I know!). I needed to take pictures of some items that I am selling at a few upcoming craft fairs (more on that later, but for now you can take a sneak peek at the pics on my Flikr page). So I decided it was time to make my very own Light Box. I used this tutorial I found from The Scrap Shoppe. The only thing I had to buy was the white poster board. Everything else I already had in the house.




I used a copy paper box (since that's what we had in the house) and I cut up an old white sheet. As you can see, I got lazy by the end (it was getting close to the end of naptime and I had to get it done) and didn't even glue the poster board down, I just clothes pinned it in place. It doesn't really matter because that part doesn't show, but eventually I'll finish the project...or maybe not.

So to show you the benefit of the Light Box and how it can really help photograph your items better, I took some pictures of some of my favorite accessories from around the house.

See? Don't those pictures look great? I still need to play around with my lighting a bit. You can shine light from both sides and the top of your light box. I just have to get some portable, bright lights that I can use. I hear Ott lights are great for this (maybe that'll give me an excuse to splurge!). I also want to make a slightly bigger one, but like I said, I was limited by time and what was already in my house.
