Playroom Reorganized

If you remember from last week, I was at my wit's end with our playroom. It was disorganized, overrun with toys and the kids didn't even know what they had to play with because half of their toys were buried beneath mountains of other toys. In case you need a reminder, here's what it looked like "Before".

And here's what it looks like now...

I had intended to buy this modular furniture from JCPenney but I decided to pay off our credit cards first. But if you're interested, it is on sale right now and is actually quite affordable.

So for now I decided to use the furniture I had in the room already and just add baskets from around the house to make better use of the space. Not only does it look so much better and I feel like I can breathe in there, but we didn't spend a dime!

The sports equipment is contained...

The big toys that don't fit on the shelves have their own little corner...

The puzzles, games and dress-up stuff have been better organized...

And by moving out some of the little toys, these baskets don't seem so crazy...

The kids can actually get to their tool bench and kitchen (although I need to find a smaller basket to fit behind the curtain to keep their kitchen gadgets in)...

By using baskets on these shelves, I have made waaaaay better use of the space...

And while the kids LOVE these foam shapes, I did not love having them take up so much floor space. All of their stuffed animals are hidden in the yellow toy box below...

So although it's not the Pottery Barn inspired playroom I had hoped for, it is 100% better than it was last week, I can put my $$$ toward our credit cards, and hopefully it will make clean-up time a lot easier, too! I'd say this project was win-win-win!

I feel so good about this reorganization project, maybe I should tackle my linen closet...
(Oh how I wish I'd exaggerated the utter chaos and disorganization of this closet for dramatic effect...but no, it actually looks like this.)
