Future Project Friday #7

I know, I'm a day late with this post, but I just couldn't wait to show you all my Master Bedroom Makeover. Hopefully you've had a chance to check it out. If not, by all means, go now! We'll wait...

Ok, on to this week's Future Project Friday. I have been seeing several VERY CREATIVE nightstand/cabinets turned into PLAY KITCHENS. I never would have even considering turning an old nightstand into a kitchen, but these ladies have inspired me to try to do the same. My kids are just now starting to be interested in pretending to cook (we have some play food, but no kitchen) and I would love to make them a kitchen. Now that I've purged some toys in the Play Room, I think I might have enough room to add a little kitchen.

Check out these amazing "Kitchen Renovations" :)

First off is this adorable kitchen Jill at Homemade by Jill made for her son Oscar.

I love the little tiled backsplash and hooks on the side of the kitchen for hanging towels, etc... And the fabric for the curtain looks so great against the white kitchen. She also has some links at the end of her post to some other play kitchen projects (all very adorable, too!).

Next up is this adorable, red kitchen Kate from oh write! made for her daughter, Maren.

I love, love, love the red! And the details on the legs of this kitchen remind me of an old stove. She splurged on a real faucet, but I think it was totally worth it! And I love the long drawer pull she used for the oven.

And finally, Cassie over at Primitive and Proper made this kitchen for her daughter from an old stereo cabinet. I love everything that Cassie does, but I'm really envious of this kitchen!

I love that she incorporated the chalkboard into the door panels. How clever!

So there you have it. Some awesome play kitchens made by some awesome women! I'll keep you posted on my play kitchen aspirations. I've already got my eye on a $25 nightstand on Craigslist! Stay tuned :)

  1. rebecca- thank you so much for featuring my kitchen! i love the others as well. my original plan had been to remove the doors on mine and add a curtain as well, but then i thought the doors were so practical with storage, and added the chalboard paint just for fun. i love that you can take so many different pieces of furniture and make them into kitchens or puppet theaters for kids. so great!

  2. Thanks for mentioning my little kitchen! I agree that it's fun to see how different people creatively transform things into play pieces. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Happy weekend.
