Multi-Tasking-Mommy Tip

If you're a mom, you're used to having to be in more than one place at the same time, making tough decisions about which task to get done after the kids go to bed and whether or not to clean the bathroom or catch up on Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood (yes, I'll own up to it!). Well at my house, it seems like cleaning the house often takes a backseat to the million other things I have to get done.

Well, tonight I had a stroke of MULTI-TASKING-MOMMY genius so I figured I'd share it with all of you. Maybe some of you have discovered this trick on your own, but for those of you that haven't, I promise this will be life changing! Tonight, while my son played in the bathtub, I cleaned the bathroom!

Yes, this multi-tasking-mommy trick will save your life (or at least make it a little easier). It seems so simple, I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

It was definitely a win-win for us both. He got to play extra long (and inadvertently splash more than usual because I wasn't bearing the brunt of the flying water, thereby asking him to stop). And I got the bathroom cleaned! (Except for the bathtub, obviously).

Now I can go watch Days of Our Lives (isn't that what DVR is for?) guilt-free because hey, I've already had a productive night!

***Now I will put this DISCLAIMER on my multi-tasking-mommy tip. Your children have to be old enough that they do not need you sitting inches away from them in case they slip and fall over in the bathtub. My son is 3 and I feel comfortable being in the bathroom with him, but not sitting right at the tub. I WILL NOT do this while my 1 year old is in the tub.

So what's your favorite multi-tasking-mommy tip? Let's face it, I'm sure we could all use more shortcuts in our lives!

  6. Hi Rebecca! Visiting from NFF - your tagline about living in the present really caught my eye. That is a serious daily struggle for me - my mind is always a million places at once. I also liked your post about getting into pics with your kids - I've tried to be more intentional about that, too. I'm a new follower! :)

  12. Love it! I do something similar. I clean the toilet while I wait for the shower water in our bathroom to get hot.
